Sheila Gunn Reid Accuses ‘Liberal Social Media’ of Spreading Dangerous Misconceptions After Minneapolis Shooting Claims

On Monday’s live stream, David Menzies and Sheila Gunn Reid addressed social media videos circulating online that claimed an ICE agent who fatally shot Renee Good in Minneapolis last week did so “because she was queer.”

The woman featured in the footage—described as crying uncontrollably—asserted that despite video evidence showing Good ignoring police instructions to exit her vehicle before accelerating toward an officer, the shooting was motivated by homophobia. She repeatedly stated, “He shot her because she was queer. He shot her because she was queer. You can see so clearly… And you voted for this!”

Gunn Reid condemned the woman’s mental state and her decision to share such claims publicly. “This is what happens when your hormones are all screwed up,” Gunn Reid said. “This is a nightmare. But this is what happens when you’re on a little bit too much liberal social media.”

She further criticized platforms including Bluesky and TikTok, alleging they contributed to the woman’s distress by spreading conspiracy theories about a “genocide against people who are on the diverse sexuality spectrum.” Gunn Reid added that the woman had been influenced into believing law enforcement officers acted with prior knowledge of her sexual orientation when they fired their weapons.

The incident occurred after footage revealed Renee Good ignoring police instructions to exit her vehicle before accelerating toward an ICE agent. The officer responded by discharging his firearm in what was deemed an act of self-defense, resulting in Good’s death. The event triggered anti-ICE protests in Minneapolis and numerous U.S. cities over the weekend.
